Deacon Training

Deacons serve in a variety of roles:
  • In smaller and/or Rural Congregations
  • As Church Planters
  • In Ethnic Ministries
  • As Assistants to the Pastor
  • In our Inner-City Ministries
Qualifications for Admission to the Deacon Training Program
  • Qualifications for an “elder” as defined in 1 Timothy 3:1-12 and Titus 1:6-9
  • A resonable amount of experience as an active Lutheran in an LCMS congregation
  • At least a high school diploma or GED
  • A recommendation from the applicant’s congregation and proposed supervising pastor
  • A willingness to be mentored
