The Florida-Georgia District’s Student Loan Repayment Program
The Florida-Georgia District’s Student Loan Repayment Program exists to help lighten the burden of educational debt so you can focus more fully on the people and work God has entrusted to you. The grants assist with the repayment of college and/or seminary education loans.
Key Eligibility Details:
- Must be a rostered worker (both full-time and part-time employed) currently serving in a Florida-Georgia District congregation, school, or mission.
- The program is available during the first ten years of continuous service in the District after graduation, commissioning, or ordination.
- The minimum education debt balance eligible for a grant is $4,000.
Grants will be awarded based on need, an individual’s personal financial contributions and commitments, special circumstances, and availability of funds.
Applications are accepted through November 27, 2026

MinistryFOCUS is a volunteer non-profit Recognized Service Organization (RSO) of the LCMS that strives to help alleviate the burdensome educational debt of pastors and other called workers. All rostered church workers of the LCMS are eligible to apply.
Since 2015, MinistryFOCUS has awarded more than $1.1 million in financial assistance grants to hundreds of LCMS church workers, helping them focus more on ministry and less on debt.
Grants are awarded on one-year cycles, from January to December. Applications for the 2027 grants will be made available soon at MinistryFocus.org.
The Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program forgives the remaining balance on your Direct Loans after you have made 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan while working full-time for a qualifying employer. This includes not-for-profit tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organizations.
