Join us on Memorial Day Weekend as The Florida-Georgia District holds a virtual prayer vigil to give thanks and pray for our district and country. Our prayers will petition God’s ongoing guidance and strength during the uncertain times we are currently experiencing.

It will begin at midnight on May 23rd and conclude at 11:59 pm on May 25th.

We will focus our prayers on our churches and schools, for worship in our churches and for pastors and leaders who are adjusting to the new normal. We will also pray for our country, the states and for military personnel who have died while serving.

We will be asking for people to sign up to pray for 30 minutes. Prayer topics and scripture verses will be provided.

We will focus our prayers on the following topics each day:

Saturday – Church and School Ministries

Sunday – Worship, Pastors and Leaders as they lead during this new normal

Monday – Country and states, and honoring the military personnel who have died while serving

Prayer Vigil FAQ’s

What is the purpose of the Prayer Vigil?

During these uncertain times, our prayers will petition God for ongoing guidance and strengthening, growth in faith, boldness, and obedience as we put Jesus’ words into practice.

Can I still participate in the Prayer Vigil even if I am not a member of a FLGA District, LCMS congregation?

Certainly! All are welcome and your prayers will be appreciated. The Prayer Guide will step you through what you should be praying, even if the concept of a prayer vigil is new to you.

How long will this take?

The minimum time slot is 30 minutes. You can pray for as long as you choose by signing up for one or multiple time slots. Time slots are available beginning at 12 a.m. on Saturday, May 23 through 11:59 p.m. on Monday, May 25.

What do I have to do?

1. A Prayer Guide will be made available here and via email to assist you with sample prayers and topics to direct your prayers.

2. Find a quiet place to pray.

3. Finish up refreshed!

Where would I do this?

Any place that you feel led to. God hears our prayers no matter where we are.

May I pray with other people?

All are welcome to pray. The goal is to have an ongoing stream of prayers during this 3-day period.
